Our History

When 16-year old Casey Jedrziewski was tragically killed by a reckless teenage driver in 2000, life was permanently altered in an instant for her mom and dad, Bonnie and David Jedrziewski. In a state of shock and consumed with grief, they found few community resources to support grieving families. Drowning in grief and facing great personal and marital challenges, the Jedrziewskis (along with Casey’s brothers) decided to reach out to others instead of retreating.

On the one-year anniversary of Casey’s death, they founded an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity – “Casey M Jedrziewski Memorial Scholarship Fund” – with a mission to provide scholarships to deserving and needy students in Casey’s name who model her traits of Compassion, Scholarship, Leadership and Citizenship. The following year they founded “For the Love of Casey” with a mission to provide free, ongoing group grief support to other parents who have experienced child loss.

In late 2016 they created a second public charity trust called the “Casey Center for Community Counseling” and have initiated the process of filing for 501(c)(3) status with the IRS. This organization has established the mission to provide free mental health counseling to underserved populations in the community to support individuals and families throughout the life cycle, to build well-being and to help our community members reach their full potential.

We have an 18+ year legacy of providing love, hope, comfort and support to people of all ages in a warm and welcoming environment. All of us need a sturdy foundation to weather life’s storms and layers of support in our lives to truly thrive to create a strong community. The Casey Center’s vision is a community where everyone has access to needed mental health counseling support services.
